Felicia Agrelius For Marin Board of Education

Meet Felicia Agrelius

I am the Director of LGBTQ+ Youth Programs at the Spahr Center in Marin, which means that I work in schools across the county directly with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. I also help schools develop infrastructure and capacity to provide culturally competent and equitable support to their students. This means that I have a deep and active connection to families across the county and a wealth of knowledge about our local school system.

I received a Bachelor of Arts in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Scripps College, where I focused on disability studies, anti-racist feminist practices, and trauma theory.

In the past, I have worked at a nonprofit empowering people with disabilities, and served on the board for the National Council on Independent Living — a board representing disability service organizations across the county. During my time on the board, I supported youth with disabilities to take on leadership roles and get actively involved with advocating for their needs and rights. I will bring my commitment to empowering young people with disabilities to my work on the board and ensure Marin County Office of Education schools are providing the high-quality education these students deserve.

“I worked with Felicia Agrelius at HS 1327 (formerly Drake) where she facilitated a group for LGBTQ+ students. The students LOVE her and are so grateful for the supportive space she provides.

Felicia actually listens to them and is responsive. She connects with and understands our students in a unique and genuine way. By being so connected to our students and community, she knows the complexity of our education system, the issues students face, and what we need to improve. She is always professional and organized, and is exactly the kind of person we need on the Marin Board of Education! It is our responsibility to empower her to make the changes our community demands!”
